Resources to support life coaching may be found on this page: Coaching Resources
Many veterans and military families turn to non-profit coaching and peer-led programs because they offer a highly accessible alternative to traditional clinical pathways. Community support organizations provide a low-barrier environment with immediate support and no formal diagnosis required. Privacy is also a paramount concern; many individuals worry about the stigma or career impact of a clinical diagnosis on their permanent records and prefer the discrete confidentiality of an outside non-profit. Ultimately, many veterans, spouses, and partners are simply looking for something new or different, shifting away from a medicalized model of illness to embrace a forward-looking, goal-oriented approach centered on personal growth and shared lived experience.

Type of Support: Certified trauma-informed coaches, small-cohort peer support, and veteran peer mentors.
Description: Project New Day delivers a structured, 12-week integrative, evidence-informed psychoeducational coaching program via Zoom for combat veterans, with separate groups for their spouses. The program draws on concepts and practices from Internal Family Systems, Coherence Therapy, mindfulness and nervous-system education, positive psychology, neuroscience, and meaning- and purpose-centered approaches. Rather than focusing primarily on pathology or symptom management, Project New Day helps participants understand how their minds and bodies work and learn to navigate their own internal processes, recognizing emotional and protective patterns, responding to stress and difficult experiences with greater awareness, and developing greater connection, harmony, and self-leadership within themselves. Small-cohort peer support and experienced coaches reinforce this learning while participants develop practical skills for healing from trauma and addiction, strengthening well-being and relationships, and creating a more purposeful and fulfilling future.
